Welcome to the Michael Barrett 2010 Headquarters!

Don't Vote

DON'T VOTE IN MARCH PRIMARIES!

Are you aware that it is a law in Texas that if you vote in one of the primaries, you are not eligible to sign one of our Ballot Access petitions??   The political duopoly, R and D’s, have set it up so that it is very difficult for us to make ballot access.  Please, stress to your friends and family that if they believe that Texans should have a choice at the voter’s box, then they need to NOT vote in the primaries so they can sign our petition allowing us on the ballot.

What would you pay for real change?

All it takes $10.00!

Did you know that a donation of only $10.00 can help change the way government is run in our country?

That's right, if everyone who visited this website donated just $10.00 it would provide enough funds to get the message out to all the people of the 13th District.

Your $10.00 would enable us to use all media resources to get the message out, including television and radio.

Won't you help? Please click on the donate button on the menu to the left or click here.

Thanks for stopping by my online campaign headquarters. Included here you'll find information about me, as well as key issues that affect our district, the entire state, and our nation.

I hope you will take the time to read my position on the issues and to join my team.  If you'd like to subscribe to my newsletter and stay up to date you may do so by registering through the form on the left by clicking on "Register."  This will put you on our mailing list and give you up-to-date information about the campaign.

You can endorse my campaign and take other actions to help support me.

You will also find a means of contributing to my campaign and getting involved.  I hope you will take the time to do so.  Please contribute so that our grassroots movement can keep going.

With your help we can have 'Change That Works, Change We Can Afford' for all Texans and for our great nation.

Why Vote for Mike

Why should you vote for me instead of Mac Thornberry?

First, Mr. Thornberry signed the Contract with America in 1994 and also signed the bill which would have added a constitutional amendment for term limits. These limits were to be 12 years for both the Senate and the House. Mr. Thornberry has broken his promise and has been in office for nearly 16 years. He said he believed in “Citizen Legislators,” not career politicians. Let’s hold him to his belief.

Second, Mr. Thornberry has missed nearly 30 votes in the past two years. We have no idea why. He either failed to vote or just didn’t show up to vote. Didn’t we send him to Washington to work?

Third, his record on veterans’ issues is atrocious. He was rated ZERO by the Disabled Veterans of America in 2005 and has never achieved a rating higher than a “C.” He voted against the Rural Veterans Access to Care Act, a bill that was introduced by fellow Republican, Jerry Moran of Kansas. This bill would have allowed veterans to seek medical assistance at a local doctor’s office or clinic instead of having to drive great distances to VA Hospitals for care. The local doctors would have been able to bill the Veterans Administration and the VA would have saved the cost of reimbursing the veteran for travel costs.

Fourth, Mr. Thornberry received a grade of 11 (eleven!) for his stand on senior citizens’ issues by the Alliance of Retired Americans. He voted against a bill that would have required budget surplus funds not be spent until the solvency of Medicare and Social Security be guaranteed.

Finally, he voted to bail out banks and automobile manufacturers to the tune of over 800 billion dollars. Then he voted against tax increases on bonuses paid to executives who ran the bailed-out companies. (Could it be that he was endorsed by bankers and auto dealers last election?)

Why should you vote for me? Because I will honor the spirit of the term limit bill even though it did not pass; I will fight for veterans’ rights at every opportunity; and I will bring the message of the 13th District to Washington, not my own opinions or ideology. My job as your representative is to take your desires to the government not to bring the desires of the government to you.
